New Release: Love and Rockets Celebrate 35th Anniversary of “So Alive”
A limited-edition EP that contains remixes of the track by The Crystal Method and D.J. K drops August 30.
Love and Rockets – Daniel Ash, David J and Kevin Haskins – had a busy 2023. Reuniting for the first time in 15 years at the Cruel World Festival in Pasadena, Calif., saw their experimental spirit, angular guitar work, and introspective lyrics re-introduced to an appreciative audience.
As it so happened, Rob Kaechele (aka D.J. K) and Scott Kirkland (aka The Crystal Method) were there and according to the press release, were blown away by the performance. They approached the band who then agreed to dig in and unvault the 34-year-old original ‘stems’ (by definition, individual components of a song that are grouped by function or similarity and can be controlled independently) to officially remix and reimagine “So Alive”.
The result is the 2024 six-song EP (containing the 1995 original version) and the remixes:
So Alive (D.J. K's Vibrant Nu-Disco Mix)
So Alive (The Crystal Method Remix)
So Alive (D.J. K's Vibrant Nu-Disco Single Edit)
So Alive (The Crystal Method & Future Funk Squad Dub)
So Alive (D.J. K's Vibrant Nu-Disco Dub Mix)

I'm giddily excited about this! Both the tour and the remix EP. I saw Janes Addiction open for Love and Rockets at a relatively small club back in December of 1987. Great to see they will be back in the bay area!
